not know "lateral runout" applies to rotating parts and is the radial deviation (out of round) from a perfectly true radius. A true rotating part will have zero lateral runout and no out of round. This concept applies to tires, flywheels, driveshafts, etc. For the DS that would be a radial deviation (out of round) at the shaft outer radius as it rotates. This can be checked as outlined in the service manual with a dial indicater mounted on the frame and measuring the out of round as the DS is manually rotated. The degree of out of round can sometimes be reduced by using a different bolt position on the rear differential flange. Since you have an NA you have 4 positions. So just try one at a time until the smoothest operation results. If you only are experiencing the vib at idle then any rotating part that is not rotating at idle likr the DS cannot be the problem. Perhaps the problem is engine, transmission, flywheel related as they are still have rotating parts at idle. Have you checked your motor mounts?
